Manufacturers and exporters of electric dishwashers targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia must now comply with the newly enforced Energy Efficiency and Water Rationalization Standard, SASO 3029:2023. This regulation, issued by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), outlines a phased enforcement timeline designed to improve energy performance and water conservation across the sector.
Key Milestones:
- 10 February 2023: SASO 3029:2023 was officially published in the Saudi Gazette.
- 2 April 2023: The Saudi Standards and Labels (SLS) platform began accepting registrations for Energy Efficiency Labels (EEL) under the new standard.
- 1 January 2024: MEPS Stage 1 enforcement begins for local manufacturers and at KSA Customs.
- 1 January 2025: MEPS Stage 1 enforcement expands to include existing dishwashers in KSA markets and warehouses.
- 1 January 2026: MEPS Stage 2 enforcement begins for local manufacturers and at KSA Customs.
Electric dishwashers are also subject to the SASO IECEE Recognition Certificate (SIRC) Scheme. To ensure smooth SABER registration and customs clearance, manufacturers must update their SIRC Technical Files to reflect compliance with SASO 3029:2023.
