SASO's Updated Lighting Equipment Regulations

SASO Implements New Regulations for Lighting Equipment: Ensuring Consumer Safety and Compliance with SABER Scheme

In the next two years, starting from March 2023 to January 2025, SASO will be implementing new actions within the SABER Scheme, including Lighting Equipment. These changes will be based on the Technical Regulation for Limiting Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment.

The first major change is the implementation date, which is set for March 31, 2023. This means that all Lighting Equipment products imported in Saudi Arabia after this date must meet the new requirements outlined by the regulation.

The new regulation expands the scope to cover all types of Lighting Equipment imported in Saudi Arabia. It also sets stricter limits on the amount of hazardous substances that can be used in Lighting Equipment, and requires manufacturers to use materials that contain less than a certain amount of hazardous substances.

The new regulation will also introduce new labeling requirements for Lighting Equipment products. So if you are a Saudi importer or manufacturer, keep following us for more information on SASO’s updates.
