Key Transition Deadlines and Updated Requirements for ICT Product Certification in Saudi Arabia
The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has introduced a new standard, SASO 3114:2026 – Requirements for Specific ICT Equipment, replacing the previous SASO CITC GEN-002 standard under the Technical Regulation for Communications and Information Technology Devices.
The updated standard has been officially approved and published on SASO’s platform and the Standards Store (Wasif), introducing revised conformity requirements for ICT products entering the Saudi market.
Stakeholders should take note of the following key transition dates and deadlines:
- Grace period until: 31 October 2026
- Mandatory implementation from: 1 November 2026
- Expiry of certificates issued under SASO CITC GEN-002: 31 March 2027
During the grace period, certificates may still be issued under the previous standard. After 1 November 2026, all Certificates of Conformity must comply with SASO 3114:2026.
Following the transition:
- Conformity Assessment Bodies must stop issuing certificates based on SASO CITC GEN-002
- ICT products must meet the updated requirements for market access
- Certificates issued under the previous standard will no longer be valid after 31 March 2027
This means that certificates issued under SASO CITC GEN-002 will no longer be accepted after 31st of March 2027. Accordingly, manufacturers and exporters of ICT equipment are encouraged to begin aligning with the updated requirements early to avoid disruption to certification and shipment processes.
